Latest Ubuntu Desktop official images bootloop the R6S

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Today I downloaded the two latest Ubuntu desktop official images for my R6S:

rk3588-eflasher-ubuntu-noble-desktop-6.1-arm64-20250122.img.gz

and

rk3588-eflasher-ubuntu-noble-minimal-6.1-arm64-20250117.img.gz

After I flashed my R6S with the first image and rebooted without the microSD it went into a boot loop. I guessed there might be something wrong with the first one so I repeated the process with the second but, lo and behold, both had the same behavior.

Is there a trick to getting it to work or can someone else confirm the same behavior?

Cheers
The NanoPi R6S is likely boot looping because the eMMC still has a bad or incomplete image, so you need to properly reflash or erase it from a working microSD boot.
