eth1 and eth2 missing?

I just upgraded my kernel to the latest Debian kernels and now I get only eth0 and no eth1 nor eth2.
Do I need some extra firmware blobs (tho `dmesg` doesn't show any sign of missing firmware for the ethernet hardware).?
Or are they by any chance still not supported by the vanilla kernel (seems hard to believe, it's been what 4 years)?
