R5C excessive battery drain on standby?

Moderators: chensy, FATechsupport

Been playing with the R5C and was prepared for it to eat LPE6NH batteries during high resolution / frame rate shoots. What I did not expect was the R5C still drains the battery quite rapidly while on standby. I have lost a battery indicator slot (full charge to ~75%?) a couple of times now just messing around with menu settings for about 10 min.

Anyone else observing similar? Is there a power optimization setting I am missing somewhere?
Yes, that’s normal on the Canon EOS R5 C. It doesn’t really “sleep” deeply in standby, so even menu navigation can cause noticeable battery drain.

There’s no special power-saving setting you’re missing. Turning off Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and lowering screen brightness can help a bit, but for longer setup sessions, external power is usually the real fix.
