nanopi m4v2 emmc hot plug?

just got new board, trying to flash core os from sd to emmc. m4 won't boot with emmc in place, can the emmc module be installed post boot ( like usb )?
no longer necessary, and probably a bad idea.
dec 2019 flasher image works almost as documented making this problem moot.
